ps2 component video cable, and intercom cable information: Our basic goals in wiring the house were to plan for anything we thought wemight want even in the distant future, since this house is planned to be ourretirement home. Thanks again for a great site, david n. This is about a20-gauge wire pair cable, substantially heavier than any normal pre-maderca-jack type signal cable. I used the inside post for theconnection to the incoming (co, or central office) phone line, which willbe the line from the pbx in the future. Since even100basetx only needs 2 pairs there is a possible minimum of 12 lan orpbx phone connections from the junction box to various places. Thus, we wanted to put in all the wiring we could think ofnow while the house was being built so we did not have to do majorrenovations to obtain the features we might like to be able to have later inlife (when we could hopefully afford full implementation). A good 3/8" electricdrill should drive the 5/8" auger bit through a single stud (good 12 voltbattery operated drills worked for us for a few holes here and there, but youneed a second battery to keep on the charger), but you will probably want torent a heavy duty " right-angle drill for lots of stud holes, doubled-studs,and the 1" bit. The cms series are designed around theatlas/soundolier bq818bx enclosure. The shield minimizes electrical and radio frequency interference. The niles appears to be a little better made and has a widerdynamic range, but is much more expensive (about $65).

Final drywaller note: Drywallers now use a mini-router to cut outlets. Imagine mydismay when i found my rg6 chewed through to the center conductor 2"from the back of the box. There is a spreadsheet file that producesthe pages. Be sure to put a phone outlet near any location you may put a satellitereceiver; some of the satellite systems (dss and primestar) connect tothe phone line to automatically dial up the service late at night totransmit billing information for "pay-per-view" movies watched. Comjust wanted to add a source for info on wiring that i just used in my ownhouse. (Also, my prices were the same as the prices they charged mycompany, which regularly buys lots of wire from them; so your mileage mayvary. Also, i goofed and did not read the fine print on another two-conductor spooli purchased from has; it was not rated for in-wall installation. |
